DESCRIPTION:As we approach ASAP’s first ever Game Night Fundraiser on April 2nd\, ASAP is profiling students and teams preparing to represent Philadelphia at upcoming Chess\, Debate & Scrabble National Championships. \nSupport South Philly Scrabble duo at ASAP Game Night: Bregy Elementary School Scrabble Team \nAfter going up against the best young wordsmiths at last year’s North American School Scrabble Championships\, Bregy School teammates Mindy and Trina are determined to make an impression. \n“I want to place in the top 5 or 10! But mostly\, I want to beat the students that we went against last year to show them how much we have improved.” -Trina\, 7th grade \nTo get ready\, Mindy and Trina have been studying and competing week in and week out as part of ASAP’s Scholastic Scrabble League. As their Bregy teammate Mario explains: “we play each other a lot to test our individual skills\, finding out our strengths and working on our weaknesses.” \nTheir hard work really paid off. This duo took home individual trophies and helped their school take 1st place at the ASAP Scrabble League Finals in February at the African American Museum. But for Mindy and Trina\, they know the real test will take place on April 18th when they go up against the best young Scrabble players from across the United States and Canada. \nYou can help other students like Mindy and Trina get to National Championships by purchasing a ticket or donating to the ASAP Game Night Fundraiser (April 2nd).
